Our services are renewed: The hosting plans have now doubled their mailbox size and up to three times the disk space!

 

In order to serve our customers better, we have renewed our services. Also the genereral Finnish VAT tax rate has increased from 24 percent to 25.5 percent. You can find the related announcement here. These changes have effects on the invoicing or our services, which we expalin in more detail in the announcement.

 

Based on the feedback received from our customers, we have renewed our services. We have launched more powerful dedicated Managed Cloud 2.0 and Reseller Cloud 2.0 server plans. In addition, our shared web hosting plans have been completely revamped and now include significaltly more much-needed resources: up to three times the disk space and twice the mailbox space. The automation and monitoring of the services has also been improved.

 

Managed Cloud 2.0 ja Reseller Cloud 2.0

 

Our Managed Cloud servers have been updated to version 2.0 during the summer, and now our new servers located in Hetzner's server location in Tuusula, Finland. The new Managed Cloud servers have considerably more capacity in terms of memory, CPU time and traffic. The performance of the servers has improved tremendously. In this reform, the services are divided into two categories:

 

  • Managed Cloud 2.0 is an excellent option for high traffic and heavy WordPress sites and WooCommerce online stores when top performance, endurance and unquestionable speed are needed.
     
  • Reseller Cloud 2.0 is great for digital agencies that want to provide a hosting service for their own customers with their own brand and customer service, but want to use our excellent technical platform for this - and when there are dozens or even hundreds of sites on the same server.
     

The old Managed Cloud servers in UpCloud's server location will also remain in use, but the product has been discontinued.

 

Innovations in all our web hosting plans: More resources and features

 

We also renewed, improved and clarfied the content, pricing and naming convention of our shared hosting plans to be simpler and cleared. The goal of the reforms is to sever different target groups in the clearest possible way. The naming convention of all product groups (mail services, sitebuilder, WordPress hosting) will be unified, and additional service plan names deemed unnecessary will be removed from the plans.

 

In connection with the reforms, the number of resources of each service has been increased to meet the generally increased demand. In particular, WordPress-based websites constantly demand more performance resources and storage capacity from servers. As a service provider, we want to continue to be able to offer a srvice with sufficient resources to our valued WordPress customers, so we have renewed our plans with the future in mind, both in terms of disk space, traffic and the mailbox size.

 

Many of our customers have found the size of mailboxes to be too small from time to time, so we decided to double the space of mailbox size in all of our plans. From now on, all our mailboxes have 2 GB size by default! The total amount of disk space has also been revised to double or even triple due to the increase in the general resource demand, so there is now certainly enough resources for WordPress installations and backups. From now on, even our smalles WP plan has at least 10 GB disk space!

 

Over the past year, our automation has been developed and now WordPress is always preinstalled in all of our WP plans for your convenience. In addition, we have developed a new Hostaan plugin that is always installed on WordPress sets in our servers to take care of speed optimization. Also WordPress installation plugin set has been developed further to better server our customers.

 

The reforms have been included to our popular email services, which also now have 2 GB mailbox size on default, as well as our sitebuilder plans that have now much larged disk spaces. The monitoring of mail delivery has also been automated and mail forwarding has been further improved with SRS technology.

 

Despite the changes, we strive to keep our prices very competetive and cheaper than our main competitors. Due to the ever-increasing need for server resources causing cost pressure to the production costs, and the challenging inflationary environment, we are also unfortunatelly under price pressure. But despite this, the price changes of our service plans have remained very moderate - and the price compared to the amount of resources have even decreased at some cases. For example the price of the new generous-sized WP 10 WordPress hosting plan with 10 gigabytes of disks pace is a very moderate 6,98 €/month. Also Managed WordPress with similar resources, SmartWP 10 starts from very affordable 9,98 €/month.

 

In addition, with the service reform, shorter billing periods can also applied for some of the services (for example, 6 months instead of the previously shortest 12 months). In those cases where our existing customer has initially chosen the shortest billing period for his order, we have applied a similar choise also in connection with the renewed product. Because of this, for example, a service billed every 12 moths in the past may come in a 6-month billing period in the future.

Renewed Dev plans:

 

  • Dev WP plans naming concention will change so that Dev Lite, Dev Pro, Dev Agency, Dev Premium, Dev Business and Dev Enterprise will be named in accordingly to Dev 10, Dev 20, Dev 40, Dev 60, Dev 80 ja Dev 100 with other features remaining roughtly the same: However, Smart Updates will not be included in the Dev plans in the future.

Finally

The renewed plans have been updated automatically for existing customers, and action is required. For old existing clients the price remains according to the old price list untile the end of the ongoing billing period. After that the customer receives the invoice for the new period, and can decide whether to continue the service as it is, or for example to change the plan to a smaller one by contacting our customer support.
